New street, new sidewalk: Zeholfing is happy about the opening to traffic!
An important step in the transport infrastructure was taken in Zeholfing in the Dingolfing-Landau district. The new road “Am Isarberg” was officially opened to traffic on Tuesday, which is the result of extensive construction work. District Administrator Werner Bumeder expressed his joy at the successful completion of the project and praised the commitment of those involved. Mayor Matthias Kohlmayer particularly thanked the community of participants for their support in taking the initiative for this project.
The measure included the intersection of the district road DGF24 and the state road, as well as the creation of a sidewalk that had to be implemented in a confined space. The total length of the new road is around 400 meters. The aim was to enable turning traffic without major obstructions. With a total cost of around 1.5 million euros, the project was around 100,000 euros over the originally planned budget.
Funding and contributions
The project was financed jointly: the Free State of Bavaria contributed 50% of the costs, while almost 500,000 euros came from the district and 260,000 euros from the city of Landau. The need for full expansion became apparent during the planning, which led to the district taking over ownership.
Maria Biederer from the civil engineering department led the project and had to ensure that the challenges of the construction project were successfully overcome. After the ceremonial opening to traffic, the community came together for an opening ceremony in the FC Zeholfing sports center, where the guests were treated to a snack. District Administrator Bumeder and Second Mayor Thomas Lorenz symbolically cut the ribbon and officially opened the new street to the public.
The new paths that are now available to residents and visitors are intended not only to direct traffic, but also to increase the quality of life in Zeholfing. The well-developed infrastructure shows that with a good hand, systems can be created in rural areas that serve the needs of the people. It remains to be hoped that this road will make everyday life much easier for many Zeholfingers.
