Volunteer football heroes celebrated: 50 years of commitment in focus!
Yesterday there was a festive evening of honor in the “Vilstaler Hof” inn in Rottersdorf (Landau), which was organized by the Isar-Rott referee group. A worthy setting to honor numerous current and former referees for their many years of commitment to football. Chairman Werner Müller welcomed many guests, including active and passive referees as well as guests of honor from the association and district. Müller emphasized the immense importance of volunteer work and acknowledged the loyalty of the honored referees, who have made a decisive contribution to their club over decades.
In his speech, the district referee chairman Robert Fischer emphasized the high quality of the referees in the region and emphasized the comradely atmosphere in the Isar-Rott group. Particularly noteworthy is the role model function that long-standing colleagues take on for the next generation. This is not only a personal award, but also an incentive for future generations.

Volunteering in football – a valuable commitment
According to information from the German Football Association (DFB), around 1.7 million people volunteer in around 24,500 football clubs in Germany. [dfb.de] reports that the DFB, together with its regional associations, annually presents various awards for volunteer club employees. These include the DFB Volunteer Award, the Club 100 and the Football Heroes. These awards are important in recognizing and specifically promoting volunteers.
The DFB Volunteer Award, which is being offered for the 26th time this year, benefits, for example, the voluntary and voluntary club employees in the football clubs. Suggestions can come from others or through self-application. It's an excellent opportunity to shine a spotlight on the people involved in football.
For this year's award, winners will be invited to a “thank you weekend” where they will not only receive a DFB certificate, but also a DFB watch. 100 selected volunteers from the district winners will be accepted into the “Club 100”, which comes with additional benefits such as a symbolic plaque and a one-year subscription to the DFB Journal.
Commitment to football is not only a matter of the heart, but is also duly rewarded. A big thank you to all those who do so much volunteer work and provide such an important basis for our football sport! Further information about the application and the awards can be found on the DFB website [dfb.de].
