A serious traffic accident occurred on Monday afternoon in Hilgertshausen-Tandern. At around 12.45 p.m. there was a serious collision between a tractor and a car on the district road between Tandern and Weitenwinterried. A 50-year-old driver was seriously injured and had to be freed from her vehicle by rescue workers. She was transported by rescue helicopter to the Augsburg University Hospital, where she is receiving medical treatment. The exact circumstances of the accident are currently unclear because for unknown reasons the driver ended up in the left lane where a 74-year-old tractor driver from Aichach was with his trailer.
The impact was violent; the car collided directly with the front of the tractor and was thrown into an adjacent field. The car was totaled, estimated at around 10,000 euros. The tractor was not spared from the damage either; Here the costs are around 5,000 euros. Due to the rescue and clean-up work, the district road had to be closed for around two hours. The fire brigades from Tandern, Hilgertshausen and Schiltberg were on site to master the situation and restore safety for other road users.
