Experience the heat transition: Open boiler rooms in Coburg on November 15th!

Sustainability is in the air! Next Saturday, November 15, 2025, Greenpeace and GermanZero are organizing the nationwide “Open Boiler Cellar Day”. This campaign is taking place throughout Germany and aims to focus on the advantages of heat pumps and reduce reservations about this climate-friendly heating technology. Those interested can obtain comprehensive information, particularly in Coburg, where numerous homeowners open their boiler rooms from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to present their heat pumps to visitors. As Wiesentbote reports, BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GREENS in Coburg also supports this initiative and thereby wants to promote interest in environmentally friendly heating technologies.

What can visitors expect? Prof. Dr. Wolfram Haupt, city councilor and mayoral candidate for the Green Party, emphasizes that it is important to inform people about technology, costs and funding opportunities. The Open Boiler Cellar Day is not only intended to be a showcase for heat pumps, but also to make the heat transition a tangible experience. Over 150 homeowners across Germany have registered to take part, and numerous additional activities are also planned, including webinars on planning and financing heat pumps on November 26th and efficient use on December 10th. Participants can receive advice about the various switching options directly during the event, so that acceptance and understanding of the technology can be increased.

All cities and municipalities throughout Germany will have to create heat planning in the coming years, which includes major investments in heat networks as well as the conversion of gas and oil heating systems. This is an important step in achieving climate goals and promoting the switch to climate-friendly heating technologies in residential areas.

The “Open Boiler Cellar Day” is part of a larger nationwide campaign that also includes organizations such as CO2Online, Stadt.Land.Klima and For Future Alliances. They all pursue the common goal of educating the population about the necessity and advantages of heat pumps. The day should be an opportunity for many people to get an idea of heating technology for themselves and to help make the switch easier. You can experience a lot here in one visit - and with a little interest you can also do a good bit for the environment!
