Enjoying art in Bayreuth: guided tours and creative Sunday in the museum!
On November 15th and 16th, 2025, the art museum in Bayreuth will open its doors for an exciting journey into art history from the 1940s to the 1960s. The ongoing exhibition “Art in Bayreuth – Works from the 1940s to 1960s”, which can be seen until mid-February 2024, promises a special experience for art lovers. Ahead of the weekend, the museum has announced numerous events that will immerse visitors in the deep waters of this fascinating era.
A highlight of the weekend is the short visit with art historian Ursula Leibinger-Hasibether, which takes place on Saturday at 4 p.m. In just 30 minutes, those interested can look forward to an informative tour of the exhibits, which remains affordable with a fee of 2.50 euros. The following Sunday things will be even more varied and multilingual, as the museum offers public tours in Ukrainian, Persian and Chinese. The Ukrainian tour begins at 11 a.m. led by Nataliya Yadzhak, followed by the Persian tour with Sara Amiri at 1 p.m. and the Chinese tour with Xuelinzi Liu at 3 p.m. These tours are free of charge and are led by Dr. Beatrice Trost accompanied.
Promoting creativity for all age groups
But it's not just guided tours that are on the program. The “Sunday at the Museum” event will also take place on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Here visitors can get creative themselves. Under the guidance of art educator Ingrid Seidel, a tour of the exhibition is combined with practical art activities. With a participation fee of 15 euros, this is an excellent opportunity to get hands-on with crafts and experience art at the same time.
In times of digital change, the question arises as to how museums deal with the new possibilities. Again German Museum Association emphasizes, this transformation offers numerous opportunities. Through the targeted use of digital technologies, museums can modernize their collection management, exhibition planning and communication with the public. The discussion about artificial intelligence and its importance for museum operations is at the top of the agenda. Above all, the fundamental questions of how digitalization affects all areas of a museum are addressed in order to actively shape cultural change.
With its current exhibition and diverse events, the art museum in Bayreuth is setting an example for the connection between traditional art and modern, digital approaches. Artists and museums are called upon to use this change to appeal to a broader public. The coming days in the art museum not only promise cultural education, but also invite you to participate and discover. Anyone interested in art and its diverse forms of expression should not miss this weekend!
There are more interesting activities planned for this year. More information about the entire program can be found on the museum's website. Take the chance to be part of these inspiring events!
