Heart's wishes fulfilled: Christmas bus makes children's eyes shine!
The time for contemplation and good deeds is in full swing and this year the Bayreuth Stadtwerke Christmas bus made its rounds through the city again. In the Lohengrin Therme, festive lights and children's laughter created a special atmosphere when a Christmas tree with 40 wish lists from children from Focus Youth Services was put up there. The bathers had the opportunity to take these pieces of paper and fulfill the children's wishes. It was a wonderful sight that proves that the spirit of Christmas is alive and thriving.
Thanks to the generosity of the bathers, a donation box was also set up, which collected around 450 euros for the Focus Youth Aid. The gifts were recently handed over at the headquarters of Stadtwerke Bayreuth. A festively decorated Christmas bus was used to bring the presents to the children. They were able to receive their packages in person, while hot punch was served to everyone present. Benjamin Beyer, the director of the Lohengrin Therme, is enthusiastic about the children's smiling faces.
Childhood and support
Focus Youth Services, which is known for its needs-based help for families, relies on a culture of mindfulness and empathy. Managing director Dejan Cukaric was grateful for the support from the community. This initiative is not only beautiful but also important as it addresses the needs of children who sometimes need special help. Child protection is a top priority at Focus and is ensured by highly qualified specialists and specific protection concepts. The work is carried out in a systemic, trauma-educational and inclusive manner so that the children receive the support they need.
Another notable cause during the Christmas season is the “Christmas Packet” campaign, which collects gifts for needy children in Southern and Eastern Europe. Every year these packages are sent to children in Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and, if possible, Ukraine. For many of these children, it is often the only gift they receive during the year - and sometimes even the first gift of their lives. These packages not only symbolize warmth, but also belonging and childhood.
Community engagement
In 2024, over 36,854 gift packages were collected, with the participation of 155 schools, daycare centers and universities as well as 27 churches and initiatives. Over 37,000 children received the loving gifts that were a ray of hope for them. It is touching to see how many people get involved and how community is shown when it comes to helping others.
The Christmas season in Bayreuth is characterized by these beautiful promotions that warm the hearts of both the givers and the recipients. A big thank you to everyone who has been and continues to be part of this wonderful initiative - together we create a warm and welcoming community where no child is forgotten.
