Bamberg City Medal: Eight personalities in focus!
At a ceremonial ceremony in Bamberg yesterday, eight outstanding personalities were awarded the renowned Bamberg City Medal. This honor, which has been awarded since 1989, honors people who have made outstanding contributions to the well-being of the city and its citizens. Mayor Andreas Starke emphasized the importance of the medal as a sign of thanks and appreciation and presented the awards together with mayors Jonas Glüsenkamp and Wolfgang Metzner.
Below is an overview of the honored individuals who have made notable contributions to the community in their respective activities:
Honored personalities
All of the honorees ceremoniously entered the Golden Book of the City of Bamberg and were put in the spotlight for their impressive achievements.
Cultural highlights in the Bamberg Jazz Club
Parallel to these honors, the Bamberg Jazz Club remains in conversation - it will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year! The first scholarship concert with Marius Holland and his Trio Noir will take place there on May 17th. Holland, an integral part of the Bamberg music scene, composes inspired by the aesthetics of noir film music and well-known musicians such as John Coltrane and Roy Hargrove.
The Trio Noir, consisting of Holland on keyboards, Elias Luijten on trumpet and Min Won on drums, will make its debut in Bamberg. The anticipation is great, especially since tickets are offered at a reduced price for members of the jazz club and the Richard Wagner Association. The jazz club itself has not only established itself as a unique music hotspot in Upper Franconia, but also looks back on a long tradition that was shaped by Marianne Benz, who has been doing excellent work there since 1989.
These events impressively show how lively and diverse Bamberg's cultural landscape is. From the impressive individuals honored with the City Medal to the top musical stars who perform on the city's stages, Bamberg has much to offer and remains a significant center for culture and community.
