District Cup Golf 2025: Athletes in action for climate protection!

The District Cup Golf 2025 is taking place today in Bobingen-Burgwalden and attracts over 60 sports-loving participants to the Augsburg Golf Club. In bright summer weather, the game is not only about winning, but also about supporting the Augsburger Land Community Foundation, which supports charitable projects in the region. Under the motto “Climate protection and mobility in the Augsburg district” the focus is clearly on pressing social issues.

A total of 19 flights are starting today, and District Administrator Martin Sailer, who is taking part in the tournament himself, expresses his belief that such events are important to draw attention to climate change. “This tournament combines sport and social responsibility – there is something to be said,” said the district administrator. With its commitment to sustainability, which is documented, among other things, by the “Golf & Nature” quality seal, the Augsburg Golf Club proves that ecological responsibility can also be assumed in golf.

Results and honors

The daily winners in the gross ranking are Carola Heurich and Vincent Anthuber, who can look forward to a wellness weekend sponsored by the KreuterMedeleSchäfer car dealership. But the remaining participants won't go away empty-handed either, because the best players in several age groups will be awarded prizes at the district cup. Here is an overview of the winners:

  • Brutto Damen AK offen: Carola Heurich, GC Augsburg
  • Brutto Herren AK offen: Vincent Anthuber, GC Augsburg
  • Brutto Jugend AK 16/18 Mädchen: Carola Heurich, GC Augsburg
  • Brutto Jugend AK 16/18 Jungen: Vincent El Husseini, GC Augsburg

  • Netto Klasse B ab 18,5: Fabian Eger, GC Augsburg

As in previous years, the event supports important local sponsors such as Sparkasse Schwaben-Bodensee and Mercedes KreuterMedeleSchäfer. The culinary supply is provided by the S carpet butcher shop from Neusäß and the Ristorante Grassano. These regional partnerships not only strengthen the community, but also show the importance of climate protection - a cause that is also promoted internationally through movements like #PhilanthropyForClimate. This already includes over 650 foundations from more than 20 countries that are committed to climate protection and see this as part of their work, as explained on the community foundations website.

For anyone interested in the results and further information, an overview is available at www.sportlandkreis.de. The District Cup Golf 2025 impressively shows that sport and social responsibility can go hand in hand - and not just on the golf course.
