Beljo back in Augsburg: FCA relies on new offensive power!
Augsburg, Deutschland - FC Augsburg has made some exciting personnel decisions in the past few days. With Elias Saad and Robin Fellhauer, the club has committed two new faces to bring a breath of fresh air to the team. However, the focus is on an old acquaintance: Dion Beljo, who returns to Rapid Vienna after a loan and is now expected at the start of training in Augsburg.
Beljo, a 22-year-old attacker, was hired by NK Osijek for three million euros in the winter of 2022/23. In his first season with the Augsburgers, he lacked luck when he could only score five goals in a total of 44 Bundesliga games. Under coach Jess Thorup, he saw no perspective and was therefore released to Rapid Vienna. There the striker literally blossomed, scored ten goals in the league and five in the Conference League last season, which makes his return to Augsburg all the more interesting. Rapid Vienna could not pull the purchase option for Beljo, which was reported to be between 7 and 9 million euros, and a low rental fee was also to be paid.
Change of coach and new tactics
The new coach Sandro Wagner has already spoken to Beljo and plans to use him as a hanging tip in a 3-4-4 system. The FCA already has several bumpers in the squad, including Samuel dining, Phillip Tietz and Steve Mounié. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen whether Beljo and the also offensive player Mert Kömür, whose contract runs until 2027 and will be negotiated by an extension by 2029, show sufficient potential to make the search for other players superfluous.
At this summer transfer period, FC Augsburg is planning to sign two to four new players. Beljo and Kömür could possibly stabilize the squad on the offensive and support the already creative search on the transfer market. The FCA is known for its good hands when it comes to talent promotion, and Beljo's return could turn out to be a real stroke of luck.
The forecast for the coming season
It seems that the next season will be exciting for FC Augsburg. With a talented squad and fresh wind on the sidelines, the team could significantly increase the chances of a successful season. Trainer Sandro Wagner is optimistic about the upcoming challenges and plans to use the strengths of his players to set up a powerful team.
It is a crucial phase for Beljo itself. Its market value has dropped from 6.5 million to 4 million euros, but despite all of this, he could have been the most valuable professional in the rapid squad. The chances are good that he will take the next step in his career in Augsburg and establish himself as a key player in a newly formed team. So the fans can be excited to see what the young striker can show in the coming season.
