Foster families celebrate together: 30 years of thanksgiving in Amberg!

A successful summer festival for foster families in the region recently took place in the beer garden at the Waldhaus. The Social Service of Catholic Women e.V. Amberg, or SkF for short, organized this thank you party for the 30th time to honor the valuable work of the 132 foster families in care. The Round Table Amberg covered the costs for drinks, coffee, cake and grilled food, which made the festival even more enjoyable. The initiative “Service to the community” has been the motto of the Round Table for 53 years, which has an entrepreneurial tradition in the region and is entirely at the service of society.

The club president Robert Winkler presented a donation of 5069 euros to the SkF chairwoman Marianne Gutwein. With this donation he underlined the importance of the SkF's work in the region. Gutwein himself praised the support from the Round Table and discussed the respect that society shows foster parents. Their commitment reflects the values of the SkF, which is a specialist association for youth welfare, help for those at risk and help for women and families in need and realizes the charitable concerns of the church.

A colorful program for young and old

The festival offered foster families, SkF helpers and sponsors the opportunity to spend carefree hours in a relaxed setting. Mayor Michael Cerny praised the commitment of the foster parents and the excellent cooperation with the SkF. The district representative Thomas Schieder also praised the services of the foster parents and the support of the SkF.

A colorful program was prepared for the little guests. Face painting, making buttons, painting wooden balls and a bouncy castle made for happy faces. The fire engines from Ursensollen and Garsdorf were also on site, so the children had the exciting opportunity to try out fire suits and test their courage with a bucket syringe. The Saller innkeepers also treated the children to refreshing ice cream, which was very welcome in the summer temperatures.

Background work of the SkF

The SkF Amberg is part of a larger network that supports children, parents and professionals in stressful situations. The organization provides support for families whose parents suffer from addictions or mental illnesses and creates a safe space to openly discuss fears and concerns.

With its diverse offerings, the SkF supports many people, especially women and children in emergency situations. The SkF community is open to everyone, regardless of denomination, social status or worldview. This openness and the commitment of everyone involved not only make the festival a wonderful experience, but also a significant sign of appreciation for the work of foster families in the region.
