Ready, set, go! The starting signal for the 2026 carnival season in Amberg was given on November 11th at 11:11 a.m. The historic small town hall was filled to capacity with members of the Amberg society Narrhalla Rot-Gelb 1934 e.V., city councilors and numerous guests of honor. This day is a special highlight nationwide because it heralds the fifth season. Mayor Michael Cerny handed over the symbolic town hall key to Tanja Weigl, the new Narrhalla club president Upper Palatinate Echo reported.
With a triple “Amberg-oho!” the assembled company celebrated the beginning of the colorful hustle and bustle. Cerny didn't miss the opportunity to thank long-standing chairman Jürgen Mühl for his services. Mühl, who served from 2004 to 2025, was named honorary president and received both recognition and warm applause.
New prince couples introduced
Another highlight of the afternoon was the introduction of the new prince couples. The Amberg prince couple, consisting of Claudia Potschigmann and Jürgen Windisch, as well as the child prince couple, Romy Müller alias Romy I and Max Windisch alias Max II, are following in the footsteps of their predecessors.
